On my new house build, the underfloor heating is installed and the 3 phase cable has been laid out in the house for a 32 amp plug next to where the heat pump will go. When the underfloor heating heat pump is installed, they are adding a heat exchanger to it so I can connect a hydro miner. I already have a 12kw radiator, so the miner + radiator will have its own closed loop to the heat exchanger and the underfloor heating will have its own closed loop. I will just need to add some T pieces + taps in the miner loop so I can divert heat to the underfloor heating or only the radiator.
My generac 3 phase 20kva generator is also fully setup along with my 40kw batteries (30kw useable) so I can charge my batteries or run the generator directly through the inverter. So now I need to scrub my biogas enough to try and run my generator. I just need to sort out a few things with pressure before I can try that.
I was originally going to be off grid but for $2400 USD I can get 3 phase to my house if I dig the 50 meter trench myself (cable is $74 aud a meter) Because my off peak rates are 5c usd at night for 6 hours and 3 free hours during the day (and 45c usd peak rates lol) in my inverter I can set grid charging times, so I can charge my batteries cheap, and I asked the sparkies to add a timer plug to the 3 phase plug for my miner. Really I expect to only run my miner for 15 hours a day all year round grid tied based on saving cheap power for home use, next year or 2 I’ll add solar. I am hoping that adding a miner will pay off the 3 phase cable from the grid while heating my house, and in future I’ll be able to be off grid if I want to because I’ve got a hybrid inverter.
