Hello. Just sending a heads up that Bitmain released a new firmware for the E9 Pro of which I am an owner. As a quick test of non-standard pool mining, I can now mine on Unmineable. In this vein, Prohasing.com has the E9 Pro listed as compatible but I have not been able to get it to work (someone test this please). I haven’t tested Nicehash yet. I am mentioning these alternative sites as the E9 series was previously just compatible with the main mining pools such as 2miners, F2pool, DXpool, Ezil.me, K1pool, etc.
Hi Nemanja. I tried dual mining Zil and ETC via Ezil.me but the miner would not establish a connection with the pool. I have not tested other dual mining platforms yet such as K1Pool and Flexpool. As far as ETHW, the new firmware is ETC only per Bitmain. On a different note, will also test Nicehash to see if the E9 pro is compatible. Thanks!
Okay I am confirming that my E9 Pro successfully connected to two ETC/Zil dual mining pools: Flexpool and K1Pool. Prior to the firmware upgrade, the miner would not connect to either of these dual pools. I currently have it hashing on K1Pool next to my iPollo mini miners. I’m waiting to see if the E9 pro will receive Zil rewards. Will confirm if it does or not after 24 hours. Please see below for screens:
Hi Nemanja I am sad to report that the e9 pro does not mine ZIL. I tested this with both K1Pool and Flexpool.
The miner will connect to the dual mine pools but is not able to participate in the ZIL proof of work window like the iPolllos and GPUs do.
I also tested Nicehash and Prohashing and was not able to get it to work with either site.
For unmineable, confirming again that the latest firmware works with this site but I experienced about a 10% to 15% rejection rate on shares.
NOTE: Can other E9 Pro owners also flash with the new firmware and test out non-main pool sites (just in case my test are faulty)? Thanks and hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
Hi Nemanja. Unfortunately I do not have a Jasminer. My ETC miners consist of the E9 Pro and iPollo V1 Mini series (1 x SE Plus, 5 x V1 Mini @ 300 Mhs). Thanks!
Wow, I just tried the newest firmware, and it wouldn’t mine to F2pool or Unminable. And I really don’t want to give in and use their pools, so I reverted back to the stock firmware. Thank for linking it.
You are very welcome Angry_Bear. Either firmware is good. I’m glad to chat with fellow E9 Pro owners. I am really enjoying mine and it has been a consistent earner. Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
I tried Unminable again but with the firmware that you shared, and it did work for me, however I also had about 10% rejection rate before I went back to F2 pool. I’ve noticed that I have a higher rejection rate with this guy than my other 2 Bitmain ASIC’s, really on any pool. Hopefully HIVEOS comes out with software for this guy like they did for the L7.
I just got one of these E9 Pro beasts set up, but I’m seeing some of the same behavior. I’m currently mining to unmineable, and every so often it starts spitting out errors. It seems to still be getting the expected yields for 3.68GH, even with pool rejection rate hitting 10% sometimes. If you monitor the dashboard, it’ll even appear to over-hash when it barfs out. I tried both firmware on Bitmain’s site. As far as I can tell, they’re tied to a specific ETH you want to mine. The earlier one is for ETC. The newer one is for ETHW and ETHF. If you use the newer one and try to mine ETC, you just get 100% rejection rate.
Are others seeing the same behavior?
Here’s a log snippet around the time of where it goes haywire:
Hi eu_tu! I am confirming as well that Bitmain released a new ETC firmware today for the E9 Pro. Thanks for mentioning ETC+Zil. I will try to test this out as well.
For everyone else, here is the link to the new firmware dated 5/31. I have installed it without issue on my rig. Currently mining ETC on 2miners.
Hi Fuzzy. I am using the latest firmware dated 6/5 (ETC) and tested etc/zil on my E9 Pro via Ezil.me and K1pool this morning. Unfortunately, the miner is still not connecting to Zil.
You would think that Bitmain would develop ETC/Zil functionality as soon as possible because the Jasminer X16-Q (1950 Mhz) and the Jasminer X16-P (5800 Mhz) are coming online soon with ETC/Zil compatibility out the box but so far, Bitmain has declined to do so. It will be interesting to see how much Jasminer encroaches upon Bitmain’s ETC marketshare due to the E9 Pro’s limitations but we shall see.
