Buying first miner

I would like to purchase a bitcoin miner. Does anyone have any suggestions for miners or where to buy from reliably? I was thinking about ordering off of the bitmain website, but I am aftraifd of that customs bill
Any help is appreciated as I am new obviously!
Why doesnt any just order from amazon ?

I have been going to https://www.asicminervalue.com/ and it shows a list of trusted vendors, according to their site.

What is your budget?

10k looking at the 1246

That’s the one I am looking at for my next miner. Probably next week. (Carp… maybe I should bump up my timeline? :sunglasses: ) Hosting it yourself or with a commercial site?

looking to host it myself . but what if i do want to host it would i have to pay monthly payments and what if i want to ship it to me will they allow that?

1246 looks good. I’m waiting for the mini-doge to arrive on Monday, my first rig. Maybe soon I’ll be ready to add a rig with that kinda power. You got your power setup for a 1246 already?

Yeah ill check out your post and what other miner do you have and from where?

Where did you order yours and doge thats awesome as for the set up im not to sure what to do honestly about what to do i suppose get an electrician but im not sure what to as ask for just a 220 v im assuming

Im in the military so i dont know if they will allow it but if they do or i manage to hook it up to a laundry outlet (will that work lol) i wont have to pay anything but if anything ill go for a miner that takes less v

thanks i look forward to you getting it

I currently have a Avalon 1166. Bought from and hosted at miningsyndicate.com. For the power requirements and noise and cooling I’d rather have it hosted elsewhere and not in my garage. MS charges a flat 0.12/kwh for hosting and while that is a bit more than some other sites it is still profitable and so far everything has been accomplished with a single phone call. And it’s hosted in the USA (Texas). I don’t want to park assets in a marginal foreign country. (I’d take parking in Canada in a minute though.)

I have a KD-Box and two DOGE-boxes on order that I am going to run in my garage. KD box should be here in a couple of days. Three HNT miners coming in a couple months too.

Hahaha go get it!! Most boxes don’t do wifi, do you have access to an ethernet line? I’m not sure about the power outlet for laundry but you might be onto something there.

That location looks pretty great. Thanks for sharing!

That sounds great i checked but it seems they arent offering to host any miner. Where did you find the other miner… Thats awesome and how much was the 1066

We have wifi but the base has a internet company many people use to get faster internet with games they get a router im assuming i could use that if not there is a wall that takes the ethernet line that im sure they can set up . Lol yeah it would be awesome to use to set it up here but if not ill try to host .

You might try a wifi bridge. That would take a wifi signal and convert it to an ethernet port. I plan to use this approach with my KD-box as all I have in my garage is wifi signal, 300+ mps, from the router in the house. I have a TP-Link bridge on order and it should be here Thursday. If this doesn’t work then I guess I’ll have to crawl through the attic with an ethernet cable. I’ll test this out and report back after the miner shows up and I get it set up.

I recently learned about a network powerline adapter which lets you run ethernet through your power lines. I went with this option to get internet in the garage and it’s working like a charm. Might want to check this option out too instead of a wifi bridge.

I just got my Goldshell MiniDOGE yesterday, a few days early. Surprisingly, it has a wifi card too. But I still needed ethernet to setup the wifi connection.

Im looking to purchase a second miner, I will have to look at minersyndicate myself. I hope they are good.
