DIY water cooling radiator - Thoughts and parts list

Making a list for making a water cooled radiator, any advice is appreciated.

3 of these (9 fans in total) https://www.amazon.com/uphere-3-Pack-Computer-120mm-Cooling/dp/B072LDYKQ6/ref=sr_1_5?refinements=p_36%3A-1000&rnid=386442011&sr=8-5

The fans arent a high RPM but might be enough for one miner, not sure. But they are quiet which is what people want

The list above comes to $135. Really most of us could do it cheaper because we have spare fans. I haven’t done a power supply, powering the pump and fans would cost $20.
Also need a few hoses, clamps, wing clamps and quick connectors. Really should be achievable for under $170 if you have absolutely nothing already

Really the best thing about DIY is sourcing things locally because as we are all aware everything ASIC related seems to come from Asia and for most people it costs an arm and a leg in shipping unfortunately. A $400 radiator quickly turns into $600 with shipping.

The idea is filling the 24L container with water and putting the submerged pump inside, pump connects to miner, then miner connects to radiator, then radiator outlet back into the tank. Previously I have a 20L drum I used, I cut holes in it, put 2 rubber grommets in it with a elbow which was a male nipple (inside drum) and female thread which I put a pipe quick connect fitting in, they cost a few bucks and I got mine locally. I used to tip the drum on its side to run my radiator and had no leaks. However if you used a submerged pump you would only need 1 grommet and inlet at the top for the radiator outlet if you use a submerged pump

If you could get a good pump that does 12L/min that isn’t submerged I would personally take that over the submerged pump and do as I had above with the 2 quick connect fittings over the submerged idea of the pump is cheap. I am also keen to design a frame to connect the fans to the radiator. Even though I don’t need this, I am keen to do it just for the sake of doing it. I would personally use the spare 6000rpm fans I have. If anyone has any ideas on how to make it better then please comment. Cheers

Edit: could use this for temperature fan speed controller
Commander FT – Touchscreen Fan Controller.

Edit 2: use this pump https://www.amazon.com/Cooling-75-5ft-External-Thread-Computer/dp/B0CY5L5VLH

Or this pump, only 16L/min but only 28 watts compared to 30L/min/88 watts

Use this pipe https://www.amazon.com.au/Thermaltake-Pacific-Lengths-V-Tubler-CL-W065-PL16TR/dp/B0195XYWGA/ref=srd_d_ssims_T1_d_sccl_3_3/358-2208030-2441748?pd_rd_i=B0195XYWGA

Get these push connectors

Im excited to see updates!!!:grin::raised_hands:t5:

Agreed. More pictures!!!

The pump on my 12kw radiator died so I swapped it out with a spare one and I think my spare one does 12L/min. 2 of the 3 push connectors on the radiator had a tiny leak, they feel extremely sloppy so I swapped them out for new ones, I’m not sure if they degraded over time or if they were poor quality from the start. The ones I have I am sure are good quality they are an extremely tight fit.

So really how I have the tank and pump setup is how I would run it with the DIY version. The tank is warm to touch, it’s 3/4 full of water and I have the valve open so the pressure doesn’t build inside the tank which has happened to me before. I think with the fan speed control it would be best if the temperature sensor is water proof and be able to stick it in the open valve into the water and be able to set fan speed based on X temperatures. Also it would be possible to add multiple radiators/pumps/miners to the one tank, and could also have radiators with their own pump (maybe 3 radiators to 1 pump as example) and pumps for miners only (maybe 1 pump per 2 miners with a T piece)
