Four 6-pin PCIe's per GPU in a rig?!

Hi all, I’m building my first legit 6-GPU rig with the whole open air frame and all that… right now I only have 2 Radeon RX 5700 XT’s to throw in it.

I have 2 risers and I’m trying to use an HP server PSU with a breakout board and it has 12 6-pin plugs on it.

The RX 5700 XT’s require two 8-pin PCIe cables each. But then I need two MORE 6-pin PCIe cables for the riser too? So I need 4 PCIe 6-pin cables for each GPU? That’s craziness! Is it a general rule of thumb that the riser needs the same amount of power (# of 6-pin PCIe plugs) that the GPU itself requires? I read somewhere that the GPU PCIe plugs and the riser plugs need to be on the same PSU (which is fine). But I think I may need a bigger breakout board tho! 6 * 4 = 24 6-pin plugs, sheeeesh!

No one knows the answer to this? Dang. :open_mouth:

Edit: found this but it looks like they only show 1 PCIe cable per riser… hmm. https://imgur.com/E8FLOEy
