G1 Mini to solo mine MWC direct to local node

I was solo mining MWC at WooyPooly as they were way better then Herominers for that, but the shut MWC down. So I’m trying to look at runnign a node for MWC locally from these instructions:
https://www.mwc.mw/mimble-wimble-coin-articles/how-to-solo-mine-the-mimblewimblecoin
I can get a node up snd synced, and I get get the wallet to start listening with a -e .switch so it will listen on 0.0.0.0, but I can’t seem to get the G1 mini pool setting to work.
I’m guessing the username is whatever you want for a worker name, so the pool address I have is stratum+tcp://172.16.17.96:3416, but I can’t get it to connect.
The Wallet is listening on 3415, the node is listening on 3416. I tried both to be sure.
I’m rinning it in windows and have the firewall disabled. The miner and the node are in my miner VLAN, so they don’t have to route and both sides can ping each other.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
