Does anyone notice that goldshell machines reach out to China every minute, even with cloud control disabled? It says China Education and Research Network Center. I blocked the IP with no difference on mining. They might be collecting telemetry from chips or performance, kinda weird because it is too often.

I don’t really have much to add to this, but I think this is an interesting discussion topic. I do wonder if these machines that originate from China (almost all of them) have some level of stealth protocols that users are unaware of. I do wish more western countries would start producing competitive ASICS. Not that there couldn’t be similar software, but I worry less about it.

Agreed. I have miners on a separate vlan with no access to my house network. I did some more research, port UDP 123 is used by NTP. The machine should have an option to at least set which region to reach for ntp. However, why would a machine check for time every minute?
