Hey guys, so I’ve run into my first problem mining after nearly 3 months. One of the 4 hashrate boards is failing to start up in my Goldshell X5. I’ve tested the PSU and found no fault, I’ve tested the cables from the control board to hashrate board and found no fault. However I pulled out the faulty board and a part of it looks like it’s got too hot. First photo is the faulty board and second photo is another board that works properly in the same miner.
I’ve emailed Dxpool (where I bought it) with the same information but as they’ve just returned from Chinese new year it might be a while before I hear back from them.
Do you think this would be the likely issue, if so what can I do to fix it (or who I can send it to to fix, I am in Australia)
Hey mate I havent had any luck yet. East coast asic repair offered to fix it for me but they are on the other side of the world and the shipping isnt worth the cost to get it fixed. I am looking at options in my area but just haven’t got around to it yet
I have 5 X5s and 2 hashboards are cooked so I swapped everything around so I have 4 fully functioning miners and one only has 2 working boards. At an absolute best if this machine lasts 5 years and keeps current profitability those 2 boards could produce 22 LTC but I think that’s over achieving, especially as I only run them during hours with solar. For me if I would pay a max of $100 usd per board to fix. Otherwise I would buy a second hand L3 for $200. For me this is a learning curve. When I bought the X5s I didn’t understand what the release of the L7s would do to my profitability and the market crash.
