GPU mining rig in 2022

Hi guys, i am into asics right now but i am thinking about running my first GPU mining rig for fun, nothing crazy as i am not even sure it worth it at the end…

So would a 5-6 GPU’s mining rig still makes sense to run in 2022 considering the current market and Ethereum situation?

Thinking about running something like 3060ti non LHR if i can source them…

Let me know what you think.

Thanks a lot!

I don’t see why that wouldn’t be plausible. And if you have enough GPU power in your rig then I’d say go for it. Nowadays however the cost of building a decent size rig you can buy an ASIC at the same price and yield around the same amount with very little effort. But if you’re starting out with one or two GPUs and gradually adding on to your rig as time goes on then that’s a more budget friendly approach. There’s still profit in GPU mining

Thanks for the feedback thats pretty much what i had in mind, i know its more trouble but i would really do this just for fun, im looking at both pre-built mining rigs without cards or building a rig from scratch…

Seems a fun project for sure!

I am an old school PC guys who started playing with computers before the windows era and i almost feel bad that i started mining with asics instead of GPU’s…lol

The Ethereum situation is the only thing that prevents me from pulling the trigger…

Give it a shot. It’s always fun to explore new things. I’ve never done gpu mining myself, but I’ve always been interested.

I’m 100% for GPU, love them and the theory.
I don’t mine ETH, I refuse to mine “Tokens” that are already pre-mined/pre-minted.
I will not use a third-party miner and allow them to centralize the choice of what gets mined.

Is it profitable? I don’t care.
That said, I do pretty well GPU & CPU mining cryptonight coins and the many spin-offs. And the things you pick up along the way are priceless. Halving’s, new coins, pool stats, 51%'s (if they occur), wallets, what people are mining, forks, new blockchains or networks and a ticket into a mining community are priceless things. I believe I earn about 80 cents per GPU per day, maybe more like 50 cents with electric or other cost. (That $ figure is today, 2 months ago I was earning double that plus, 1.5 years ago I was losing that much per day lol)

Here are some pools I use right now. https://fastpool.xyz , https://hashvault.pro , https://coinminerz.com (I realize coinminersz is not GPU , per say, they are everything , but anon) . Check those out and consider things. Check out individual coins > miners> hashrates/Payments.

There is just so many positive things about GPU/CPU mining. And I always tell people, if you decide it’s not for you and you want to ASIC instead the GPU rig will never go to waste. Extra computers are always welcome, especially one’s you built and know/control the security level to.

I still think it’s rather cheep if you are building a rig. Everything is costing more now’a’days but it boils down to GPU cost. The rig alone, everything except GPU, could be built top notch for 1600-3000 US Dollars (maybe more, depends what the build is). I’ll message you right now where you can get some GPU’s.

Happy hunting. If you decide to do eet, hit me up maybe we can 51% the same pool together , lol.

Yeah I agree with the rest, can’t really go wrong with GPU mining. It was my first build and its been profitable day one. And in the end if it all goes belly up I got a few decent gaming rigs to put to some use. LOL

I’m thinking of building a rig with some 580 8gb, mainly because I can’t afford the 3060 or up right now.

Can you provide some information on your setup?
