I’m fairly new to the forum, and to mining crypto honestly within the past 4 months… but in 4 months I’ve gotten a few miners. I have a Blackminer F1+, an Ultra, and a Mini, 8 various Goldshell box miners, a Goldshell HNSLite, a couple S9’s (have been messing with setting them up as dual s9’s to occupy time and learn) and a few Z9mini’s (I’ve had to learn some lessons the hard way… lol).
For reasons I won’t get into (don’t want to bring the drama to the forum) it looks like I’ll be moving, alone. As I was looking up apartments/houses, it dawned on me that I don’t have to stay here as I have no children of my own and my job is completely remote so I can do it anywhere with a high speed connection. Currently my electric rate is around .10…
If you could start over and move anywhere you wanted, where would you go and why? I’m looking for cheap electric, decent area, and the availability to use to things like Doordash and Shipt would be a bonus.
I’m a born and raised farm boy so I’d say any farmland that’s got half decent rainfall, somewhat flat land but good enough drainage so it doesn’t turn into a swamp, doesn’t have to be 100 acres but enough land to ride motorbikes and use firearms without people complaining (here in Australia people always have a sook at me for using firearms) land that has resources for things like firewood, Ability to generate your own electricity like space for solar or wind or a decent size dam with a steep decent for hydro or natural gas, if I were alone if there was no house with the land id probably put a modern tiny home there to save costs and spend it on other cool things, just to live in fresh air and have the freedom to do whatever you want, and id probably get a mining pod and deck it out with miners like vosk if I had the electricity to do so
But that’s just me, I’ve stayed in apartments in the city ahd it’s sort of cool but it can’t beat the countryside, I wouldn’t trade it for the world, nothing can beat working in this every day. But whatever you choose I wish you the best of luck
I also grew up in the country… so thats a good suggestion. My only concern with that would be finding a location in the country with good energy rates.
Thats a beautiful piece of land you’ve got there! By brother owns 100 acres so if I want to I always have that, I also have guns and dirt bikes so Im not writing a country setting off (also in my experience, even cool neighbors suck sometimes LOL).
Never thought of Australia, Ive been to all of the lower 48 states here… maybe its time to get a passport?
If you are in some kind of home office jobs … Came to Serbia… Frendly people , good mediteranian food , preaty women… Everybody of younger generations speaks English. Prices are very good family can have good life with 2000 usd per months… Average salary in Serbia 800 usd per month… You can buy big country estate for 50000 usd ( 5-600 acres with house )… Prices for electricity are 0.10 usd per KWH… It is crypto frendly country , Montengero , Croatia , Slovenia , Albania , Grece is 5 hours driving so you can go for vikends on seaside… or Buglaria , Austria or Serbia for ski sports… And if you are Nato fan , maybe it is not good place for you, we do not like NATO because we had war with NATO in 1999 and lived some horors , same thing not fans for EU , we have colaboration but that is that we do not want to be member of EU … We are very neutral … In last year we have 400 000 Russians , and 200 000 Ukraine people that moved to Serbia , and here Russians and Ukraine live together in peace…
Hi Nemanja! Wow, that sounds AMAZING! I do have a work from home office job, and sounds like I would be living very comfortably possibly even able to buy a house within a year there so this is moving up my list of possibilities.
The politics sound good to me, as I would consider myself neutral as well and have tried to always look at everyone as “human”… obviously there are differences with every race, but to me that’s the beautiful part of our race, how boring would it be if everyone was exactly the same??? Plus, I feel like if everyone could overcome their differences to combine their skills… our slogan would be “Humans to Mars!” (since apparently we’re skipping the moon haha).
Thank you, I really appreciate everyone taking time out of their day to give me some places to think about. I was stuck in the mindset of finding something here in the U.S., but this has opened my mind to other possibilities. I just need to check with my company, but I believe they want to branch out so maybe this would be a good thing to have more diversity in the company.
If I move countries it will be a lot easier to let go of my belongings too haha, I’m liking it more the more I think about it… It will just be me and my miners haha. Do you know if it’s hard to get a work visa there @nemanja ?
Working visa… what is that ? Yea , you have that in USA , and western Europe… We do not have working visa for western countries… Even we have some politican iniciative it is called open Balkans , between Serbia, Montenegro , Macedonia and Albania , because we are in shortage of people , people with expert knowledge , so they can move to Serbia , without any limitations… If you speak English , and another language you can find job easly at amercian company that have representative office or company in Serbia , for example NCR have 5000 employies … I schould google things about Serbia , and watch youtube … I think currently is best country to raise my kids… My best men on wedding and his wife , they are doctors… they have kids 5 years , and 2 years old , like mine douthers , they lived in Slovenia , had good salaries , in two years they bought flat, they moved to Sweden for even higher salaries , but they want to get back in Serbia… In Serbia you met someone for first time , and at end of night you are with him drinking RAKIA ( lokal plum brandy) , eating SAC , and dancing on tables in lokal PUB… For most westerners , we are “litle” stange people until this strangers become Serbian…
Thanks legend, our electric rates LOL cheapest flat rate is 26c USD, it’s why if you read any of my posts I am hell bent on generating my own electricity. Here we have the AEMO (Australian energy market operator) and basically every 15 minutes this government entity controls the spot price on electricity based on the current demand and the fuels available in the grid. And if you are putting electricity in the grid at the spot price there’s generally a 18c (AUD) difference. Like if the buy price is 18c then the export price is 0c or if the buy price is 10c then the export price is -8c and they charge you to put it into the grid (normally because there is excess wind/solar) and you might be sitting there thinking wait were does that 18c go? Well it goes to the very hard working government of course! For “maintaining power lines”…LOL it is a dead set scam and this is the result of not letting the free market work itself out and letting the government control it, it just another form of taxation that people are unaware of. Theres a saying that goes “Play stupid games win stupid prizes” well I’m not playing their stupid games and am focused on generating my own electricity for my miners, my house and my wifes electric car. And the state where I live we only have natural gas, wind and solar in the grid. If it gets too cold and cant get the natural gas out they have to fire up diesel generators lol, or just cut the power. Play stupid games win stupid prizes…
I have about a dozen people from former Yugoslavia work on my farm and they are all lovely people. Would love to go there one day the scenery looks beautiful
WAIT you have to pay to have excess power sent to the grid?? WHAT rip! 26c is insane lol. Best of luck with your solar/wind. I guess you do have the advantage of pretty good sun for solar lol.
Yeah it’s nuts, now just look into the future of where I live where something like 1.3 million people solely rely on solar, wind and natural gas. They reckon in 5 years that 25% of cars will be electric, which will be 165,000 cars. Everyone will drive it to work and come home and put it on charge (I have an electric car and it uses 2.1kw roughly) which means there will be roughly an extra 350MW of power being used, and at peak times we use roughly 1600-1800mw already and we have these insane prices. My states grid will fail, but thankfully I am prepared and my household will be fine and I’ll have a lot of crypto as well
Not sure how much, but I know my brother here in Michigan who also has a pretty sizeable solar panel array also has to pay “transfer fees” to pump power from his panels into the grid, then to pull it back out… Sounds like a complete ripoff to me too but it seems to be how it’s done in quite a few places, they just store it for him though and then he pulls it back at night or if it’s cloudy etc. I think the best bet would be to get a bank of batteries and store it yourself but he’s waiting a couple years with all the new battery technologies emerging, doesn’t want to be a guinea pig but does want to take advantage of new technologies so he’s waiting a bit.
I’ve been working on getting some rigs set up at his place, he is VERY interested… I’ll probably just take one over and set it up for him so he can see how easy it is, he’ll be hooked. Muahahaha, lol
