I see this is a new miner that just came out. WIll this be able to mine Ethereum classic for the foreseeable future? What are your guys thoughts as I am a hobbyist but would like something bigger but also dont want to throw money down the drain only if the block chain is being upgraded and then will not work with this miner.

Go to a dag size calculator. There is one here:
Go check the memory size of the machine. In this case Ipollo say 5.8 available.
Punch that in to the calculator where is says DAG size and on ETC that is currently good till 2031.
This value will decrease as hashrate increases a little. But there is no cause for concern with it not being able to mine ETC or any other ETHash based coin.
