I put this into my server and started using Nicehash to mine. Does anyone have OC settings that will work with the new Nvidia drivers and works well with BeamV3? This seems to be the algo it defaults to most of the time. Or should I downgrade my GPU driver to something earlier that works better for mining?
I am getting an average of 33 Mh out of it and it does mine pretty good for a used older card. However it is “reported” to be able to get about 66 Mh with the right combination.
All 1080 ti’s need the ETH_largmentPill (⛏ Boosting GTX1080/Ti & Titan XP using ETHlargementPill | Kryptex), because of a driver timing issue.
I don’t mine on Nicehash anymore, but there was an option in the nicehash software before.
You can also use the --mt (1-6) option in NBMiner or t-rex miner (same function as the pill).
I use Afterburner with the following settings for my ASUS ROG 1080 ti:
ETH: PWRLimit 75% / Core +50 / MEM + 500 will give you 39 - 42 MHs
RVN: PWRlimit 75% / Core 0 / MEM +100 will get around 18 - 20 MHs
Beam: same settings as ETH will get approx. 21 sol/s
You can also use any mining software like NBminer or t-rex and mine with them to Nicehash directly without the Nicehash software.
NBminer / t-rex *bat file looks like this
“nbminer -a ethash -o stratum+tcp://daggerhashimoto.usa.nicehash.com:3353 -u WorkerName.RigID -p x --mt 6
pause”
Needs to run in Admin mode though.
I used lol_miner to mine Beam in the past (not sure if that’s still the best choice though).
It’s irrelevant which driver you use, they all work the same, old and new.
let me know if you need further help
curious how much 1080ti’s are going for nowadays? I got one used years ago for $420 still seems like a killer deal.
This one was a little over $500 but still a pretty good deal considering
I’m using the ASUS overclocking program, GPU tweak v3, so it doesn’t look exactly the same as the Afterburner settings.
I do not know what I clicked on but I got a black screen so I had to restart the server. I guess it was a false positive for the program and I had to repair the install of GPU tweak (I hate windows babysitting everything)
They really need to fix that problem.
Yes I know the program is tweaking settings, that does not mean it is malware, windows…
Those settings did not help. On certain miners I only got one more MH and because it decided it did well enough on the benchmarks, for some reason, after the DAG was loaded, it started ethhash at 3 MH instead of the 33 I was getting so I decided to go back to defaults with just the fan graph adjusted. Running bench again and I will just stick to what I was before, run as admin.
I’m not brave enough to try using other miners right now and Nicehash will switch algos if something happens and it needs to.
I think @ $1.50 a day give or take is not bad really.
I already fixed the issue by uninstalling the DCH driver, installing a regular plain driver, and I still use the ASUS OC program GPU Tweak 3, designed for the card. I’m now getting 61 MH/s on the top end and typically 42-43 MH/s when it is not running hot. This is mining DaggerHashimoto on the Nicehash full miner, not the quick miner.
I have no idea what happened but now my hashsrate tanked and I cannot seem to get it back. I have tried benchmarking, changing clocks, nothing helps. Ethpill is activated. Anyone have a clue what i can do? It was running great for a while. Now it is doing pretty bad. I am lucky if I can get 33 MH/s
66 Mh? No way, more like 33-37 depending on the algorithm and silicon lottery. I really don’t care for Nicehash as much as I use to. Usually I stick to one coin to mine from a different pool. Right now Ethermine is my main pool. Also, the only way to truly know the optimal OC setting is to adjust and re-adjust yourself thru MSI afterburner or something. And each coin might require different settings on your clocking. Most Nvidia GPU’s are profitable mining Ethereum, although I believe a 1080 ti is best mining the equihash algorithm. Right now there’s a lot of 1660 Supers hitting the secondary market at MSRP. Well worth the purchase at $329 for 30Mh
I was getting a consistent 42 MH/s. So a drop like this so early is kinda frustrating. The 61 MH/s was for Autolykos on NBminer but that wasn’t as profitable as I thought it looked. I prefer DaggerHashimoto.
I was getting a profitability rate hovering right around $2/day which has dropped to around $1.50
I can’t help but think I’m being throttled
The peak on the far left is what I was doing. The peak on the far right is what it is reduced to.It looks throttled.
I don’t know if I will have another card in the budget soon or not. But If I can I definitely will be getting something to boost this up more.
UPDATE: Ok, now my actual profitability on this card together with another one with way less hashes combined is back up to almost $3 a day, so I guess it is just fluctiating on the pool end.
All 1080 ti’s have a timing issue in the Nvidia driver. If you mine and work at the same time on the computer, the timing may gets screwed up every now and then.
I have one computer with a 1080ti MSI, where I don’t do anything but mining on. It stays consistent at 39 to 40MH/s with the EthPill.
On a second computer I have the ASUS 1080 ti ROG, but I work on it regularly. It fluctuates quite a bit until I restart the computer.
If you need to work and mine at the same time, then a restart will fix the timing issue. Seems like the EthPill timing fix fails every now and then.
Restart and let it only mine ! Do not work on or start other software !
This has nothing to do with the card, it’s Nvidias drivers (all of them !).
This is installed in a server that does nothing else but mine. It was abysmal for a while until I set the clock to something reasonable and then rebenched. Now it hangs out around 40 MH/s +/-.
I’m mining only one algo, DaggerHashimoto, the most profitable for this card. Everything else sucks.
Some days my mining gets up to $2, sometimes $3/day, but it is mining in tandem with another dedicated rig with a less profitable card. That one is on lolniner hashing sols. Still not bad for what it’s doing.
