My Goldshell KD-Box was delivered about an hour ago. Much smaller than expected. My hand is actually bigger. And it has an antenna so it must have wifi though there is nothing in the documentation about it.
I knew it was not coming with a PSU so I ordered a EVGA 650w. And here is where I have a question? The included cables do not have a six pin to six pin. The closest is an 8 pin, marked VGA and a corresponding 8 pin connector on the PSU, to then goes to a 6 pin and separate 2 pin on the other end. (See pics) I am assuming this is what I use but before I fry a $1700.00 miner I thought I would ask here first.
@Jasongreen I am not sure what you are recommending? Get a 6 pin to 6 pin cable or a different PSU or ??? (Goldshell does not have any of their own PSU’s avaiable so that is out.)
I can’t help with power supply information but congratulations on your kd-box. It’s very difficult to get one from Goldshell. Other suppliers have it for 10 times the price.
Yep, that is the right cable. I have the same EVGA ps in 750w. Put the 8 pin in any of the ps slots marked vga and the 6 pin into the miner. The 2 pin breakout just hangs loose.
Details on how to set up the Wi-Fi part are in this Goldshell doc. I don’t know why they don’t include it with the miner. I have 6 Goldshell box miners. 3 of them are on Wi-Fi and 3 are Ethernet. All have been rock solid and mining for a few weeks now.
Just know if you want to switch back to ethernet you’ll need to connect and turn Wi-Fi off. Just plugging in an ethernet will be ignored. I wish it would prioritize ethernet if it finds one, but it doesn’t.
I just managed to get hold of a KD box and was wondering if I could just plug it into my gaming pc PSU? It’s a 750w PSU and my pc (which I mine on) only uses around 100w. So that plus the 223w of the kd box would be do-able.
A lot of people use those type of psu’s. I am running a couple of goldshell boxes on a corsair 850w power supply. Goldshell does recommend using an 80plus gold power supply though, I can’t tell what yours is rated for. Power wise, your psu should be no problem. Just remember the 80% rule… Whatever you have plugged into it should not total more than 80% of rating. So a 750w unit should not have more than 600 total watts being pulled from it.
@SnakeEyedV3 If you add another box onto your system that would take you to approximately 660 watts needed of your PSU to stay within the 80% rule. So, barring something else you should be good.
Ok, I finally got this miner up and running and it is sitting in my garage linked through my home wifi system. I am currently pooled through DXPool and further connected to Zelcore wallet. Only been running for 16 hours and when I look in DXPool it says under Current Profits I have earned 0.9 KDA. Zero under paid. I am assuming it pays out after a specific amount of KDA has been earned? (I may switch over to PoolFlare as has been recommended in other postings on this site.)
My question has to do with what I am seeing under Goldshell’s Find My Miner. I am seeing HW Error of 0.21%, Reject Rate of 3.60%. These seem high though as I am new to this I don’t know for sure? Additionally I have these results:
Hashrate 1610.46 GH/s
Temp (°C)84.0 °C / 75.4 °C
Nonces 701613
Accepted 5337
HW error 1511
Reject 200
Any feedback and suggestions appreciated.
BTW, my two Mini-DOGE miners are being delivered by DHL today.
Goldshell says don’t be concerned unless you see reject rates over 5%. My mini doges have much lower reject rates than my KD box. So I guess that is normal with KD’s? I was seeing 2-4% on dxpool and now less than 1% on Poolflare.
