How do these two unit operate? Can they be placed next to each other and do they interface with each other? Can you explain how the two differ in how they mine and operate?

To knowledge they both operate in the same Helium network. Therefore putting them next to each other is not recommended, you will just cut your rewards in half, and gain nothing extra. Better to put one of them at least 350 feet away so they do not impinge on each other’s rewards. Likely they operate same as each other, I don’t have any hotspots right now but I’m expecting 2 LinxDot to arrive at my home by late December. Hope this helps.
