Check out this guy on YouTube. He has multiple locations where he must rent the space and has built a ventilation wall in the garage door space. Cool air in the bottom via fans and hot air is forced out the top space. Looks like it works ok for his GPU farms.
I would definalty go with the 400 amp to start with. It takes time to get all the permits and electrical pannelboards in today’s circumstances. Easier to do it large the first time.
Is it currently a 3 phase service or single phase?
If I built one from scratch I would go 415/240v 3 phase for a service. If the power company won’t supply this then I would ask about them connecting to my own oil filled outdoor transfomer for service. And if they won’t do that I would get a 480/277v three phase service and step down with my own 415/240v transfomers.
Keeping the voltage higher will result in smaller wire feeding your panelboards. I would go with 60a 3 phase wye (5 wire) circuits that feed 60a pdus and would order them without plugs and direct wire the whip using lugs in a junction box supplied with the branch circuit wiring to save money. These pdus are common for the UK and even seeing lots of US data centers going with this voltage.
One 60a pdu can deliver 34,462 watts at 80%. That can power 10 L7’s it self.
As far as cooling goes I’m not sure what cfm is recommended per unit. I read somewhere that the l3 units need 250cfm or so. The big guys I work with are all liquid cooled.

Those are interesting. I wonder how they can sell those seeing they violate the NEC. Unless there is overcurrent protection in those junction boxes, it would seem these are a violation of the tap rules. I wouldn’t trust a 50a breaker to protect a c13 cable under a fault. And I’m sure any inspector would question this also.
@Colby_DuPont Just to ask again…where are you finding 6-20 to C13 splitters that have at least 12-2 AWG wire? To quote the movie Field of Dreams, “build it and they will come”.
thats going on PAPERS… i have a pdu rated 20amps doing 26 amps for months now… just like asicminervalue… dont go buy what everything says . get quality items on pdus. test it and see what you get . practice makes perfect. and like anything else… KEEP EM COOL. heat kills

It is staying cool with the LT5 Pro and S19 96 (got from @Master3004 ) . Realized last night I been over killing the PDU rate but so far everything been smooth, I’m still confused how this is possible I am using a L6 plug with 12GA wire for lead to pdu and using 12GA cables to each machine

i dontr know about that… those boxes are questionable… if its quality sure… but then again. ur limited to where u can go with it aint no way… that shit would burn up on ya using 18ga cables… no way i see myself using it . if i wanted a puddle of melted plastic lool… actually prolly be ideal for some TOY boxes doorstops kda thingies. isnt 18ga like speaker wire lol… no offense to anyone… jsut noticed… daaamn
My OCD loves that server room you are working in. The garage is single phase currently, I didn’t think to look if there is any 3 phase nearby. Eventually, we are hoping to pickup an old mill (We are in New England, near where the industrial revolution started) and follow the method of the industrial revolution of using water power to run the mill…So hopefully we can find a small old mill on a river, and then put some hydro electric in place to power the facility. Thanks for all your info, most of it is above my head, but maybe we can hire you to make sense of it all once we move the hydroelectric phase of the project.
