Based in the fact the new models went from 1 connector to 2 I suspect the design flaw is on the miner primarily where it is drawing too much power over that single connection. Better quality power supplies can and will reduce the risk and hazards of this flaw and also explains why those who replace the connector with a higher quality more robust plug also see less problems.

Seen this happening with iPollo miners as well, when you use the stock (black brick) type power supply.
you need to solder off the old connector and attach a new one

Honestly easier said than done. I don’t know how to solder at all.
