Need help setting up goldshell HS BOX

Hey guys! @JoeJoe @Chsear11
You two were so helpful last time I figured I’d give this another shot!

Basically long story short, I bought a brand new HS box from gold shell, directly out of the box it sounds like the inside component is loose sliding around.
I have a blue flashing Light at the top

A solid red light at the PSU port

A solid green and flashing yellow light at the Ethernet port…

I can see the pool hasn’t turned green for connection.
Find my goldshell the IP seems to pop up for the HS.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong If anyone could help that would be amazing !

Thanks for anyone reading this

I always thought flashing blue was the unit hashing away. Green and yellow at ethernet would make me think you’re connected. Not sure about red at ps connection. I would double and triple check your pool settings. If all that is good, check your warranty. If no warranty, I would open it up and see what’s sliding around, but that will void your warranty so make sure you know your status. If you have warranty, go that route, but shipping cost and time to repair will suck. If you don’t want to wait, open it up and see what’s going on inside. I’m comfortable with doing that type of thing and have a tech/electronics background though so if you’re not comfortable doing that then maybe just send it in. Bottom line, I would try warranty first, but after that I’m opening it up myself depending on shipping cost vs timeline. @ziZat

Sounds like a heat sink came loose during shipping. Contact your supplier or Goldshell and get this resolved. Those heat sinks do fall off during shipping sometimes, I’ve dealt with it myself unfortunately :v:t3:

thanks so much for getting back to me!
ive been in contact with Bella from goldshell support. its been taking forever already.
so yes if no warranty then i guess this will be a fun project opening one of these up for the time! lol

a heat sink, interesting. thanks! now i guess i know where to start the research on how to repair

Just take your time, you’ll be fine. It’s pretty straightforward back there. It’s just one small hashboard. You got this!!

theres gotta be a first time for everything right?! Thanks Rob!
Once i figure this out i will post an update for anyone looking

I’ve had one apart and they are fairly simple. Yes, sounds like a heat sink may have fallen off.

Will a loose or fallen heat sink cause the red light indicator on the PSU to come on?
Maybe the port is disconnected?

If a loose heatsink is blocking a fan or causing a short it definitely could be a problem. You can check YouTube to see how to take the box apart, and possibly to replace it. As stated above, it would be a last resort if it wasn’t covered under warranty or the shipping cost is greater than the value of the box.

Can a loose heatsink effect the PSU port indicator light?

I wouldn’t power on any electronic device that has parts rattling around inside.
