Hey everyone! Please excuse being a newbie lol. I currently started mining on my computer and want to start mining using a rig. I plan on building this rig How to Build a Mining Rig - Part 2 - Assembling Computer Components - YouTube
I want to do so to mine etherum. What do you guys think? Is it worth it?
ETH2.0 is scheduled for June 2022. When ETH moves from PoW to PoS , GPU eth mining is done.
But no biggie, just mine something else like real Crypto Coins. ETH was “pre-mined” and mined, So in my opinion you ain’t missing much. I usually recommend people not to mine eth and to never use a 3rd party miner like NiceHash who not only takes a cut of crypto You created, they also pick and choose who You mine. Nothing about 3rd party grifters is in Satoshi’s Vision.
I would recommend you start where everyone else did, before it’s too late and outdated. Monero and Cryptonight algorithm. From there it all opens up. If a person is not familiar with cryptonight then ETH mining is pointless (like putting your car on cruise control but you don’t know where you’re going). Same goes for ASIC. Sure plenty of people started on ETH or ASIC but base info about mining/pools/CLI wallets comes from GPU Coin mining. Starting with the original ideas has much value, as crypto in general is already becoming so confusing regular folks are having a tough time.
Good luck with it all. I’m glad you’re making the steps to become a miner. Cheers.
