went to the site and before I set up an account I tried out…“check hardware” something like that to check profitability…needless to say it said “No known hardware detected” soooo Im guessing my PC is so basic i dont even have a decent enough cpu to get started? I pulled up a site he recommended “Compass”…do I need to buy an entirely new computer on top of a miner or should i just be patient …watch all the material I can on the youtube channel and save my pennies for a miner off compass and see about installation and running/profits etc when i get it?
If you have the funds to get something and get started, research, think about it, and pull the trigger if you’re willing to take that risk. As someone else yet to fully dive in, I’m waiting a bit longer. ROI on ASICs that I can afford isn’t so pretty right now, and GPU mining will have some amount of effect when Ethereum changes.
Read, reflect, and take whatever level of risk you are willing!
Fukn frustrating aint it? I wish I woulda took my friends more seriously that were into the nerdy hacking and crypto shit 10 years ago. I got hooked on crypto a year ago starting with doge. I see these guys posting all these screen shots of mining account with like $15,000 and Im like fuckkk I want that sooo bad!! I work a basic 9-5 at a tractor supply and live paycheck to paycheck im lucky if i can add $50 to my portfolio a week. I tried salad.io for some extra income to help but made 20 cents in 2 days. Guess i need to pick up a 2nd gig and chop and sell some firewood. Im trying to get into an IT bootcamp for a new career to invest more in this adventure. Its definitely not for broke mofos lol
Its a bit more complex than that- it needs some specific hardware to be worthwhile.
2 ways I am boosting my crypto savings is using Coinbase Debit card for 4% rewards on all cash purchases (gas, utilities, groceries, etc)
And then getting into a credit union for checking account that pays “decent” APY for money- 2-3% at a ton of them.
I have zero experience with gpu’s, thats for smart people. Asics only require an ethernet connection and power. I set mine up with an old MacBook. You just have to be on the same network to set up and closely monitor them. Consistent internet is better than fast internet. Choose a mining pool, set up an account, choose a wallet and/or exchange to mine to, then set up the miner.
But if you had that S9 when it was new and it was mining 1-2 BTC a month, you’d be set now. Have the same mentality for this batch of new miners and think about the next halving. Especially with all this Institutional interest. Yummy!!!
IMO Nicehash is a side quest that gives no reputation with main factions , lol.
You allow them to use your gear to mine the tokens/coins they choose. So you give them the power to control what crypto’s survive and which hashrates and difficulties go up and down. Might as well put your money in Bank of America and ask to only invest in the most oppressive corporations or bomb makers.
But muh Profits… if profits are the main goal, you might be acting in conflict with the tenants of crypto and Satoshi Vision. But “muh profits” is the exact thing that is used to justify nation to nation bombings.
Nicehash had a place and time, now they are just a giant company who tries to control crypto for maximum profits.
And I’m not blind, you’re trying to get in and learn. Learning from sellout shill might not be as valuable as you hope.
For full discloser. Other people here would likely directly disagree with me. Some people crypto to fight oppression, other people crypto to cash out while living in oppressive countries and don’t care if they feed the war machine as long as they “muh profit”. Choice is yours.
I recommend that people download a mining app/program to use with your computers operating system. Find a pool, Download/install a wallet, then run the program/app and mine for yourself. It will not be “high profits”. But it will be “high knowledge”. Then maybe you can appreciate an operating system like HiveOS and know how to best use it. Instead of making a Nicehash account, putting them in control and depositing your funds onto Coinbase so you can pay the tax on it…
Taxes on crypto is the greatest joke in the 21st century. The governments are taxing people while the people actively de-fund the federal reserves of said nations with the creation of unregulated crypto. Of course, if everyone keeps paying tax, we can’t call crypto production un-regulated as taxes become the regulations, lol. And you might be thinking , why am I talking about taxes in a NiceHash Conversation, there is a reason Nicehash requires you to be 18 years old.
I started with salad.io…but I literally made 20 cents after 2 days…I obviously need to make an income to live but i dont wanna feed the beast either…thanks for the input
So this is where I kind of got stuck on also, I have two desktops one is an HP gaming desktop 690-00xwith the amd Ryzen 5 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics 3.6GHz also I have a 11TB HDD, 4TB HDD, and 1TB hdd as well as but it is also home to my fathers flight simulator programs since he’s becoming a pilot so not a lot of free storage. The second desktop and one that’s actually I feel is better is a Dell inspiron 3668 with intel i3-7100 CPU @ 3.90 GHz (3.91GHz) with 8GB ram and TB SDD. I do use the Dell for my music producing so it’s mostly geared to that specifically, I have nice hash downloaded on both but can’t seem to get them to by pass the nortons antivirus I have paid for when my identity was stolen. If anyone has any knowledge on having nice hash be able to run even with Norton I’d love to hear how you were able to do that!
But so despite having trouble I know you can download xmr-rig which is a cpu miner Raptoreum miner JCE, monero miner, claymore miner and claymore dual ethereum miners, faucetofbob.xyz has a miner called BobMiner, stealth miner (for windows), Phoenix Miner, and unMineable miner. I haven’t used all of these yet but from what I’ve researched they’re good and reputable. I especially was keen to unMinebable since you can mine cryptos which normally are not able to.
I’ve also come to find a cpu/gpu website which acts as a full miner but without the hassles and is actually fairly profitable to be completely honest which was a good find! Hope this helps at all and you’re able to find something that works for you and suites your needs.
