Question for anyone willing to answer

For Asic Miners An opinion what would be the best option to go with starting out. Wanting to mine ethereum, Bitcoin, dogecoin . And what would you say a website would be with decent respectable prices.

Im on my 2nd newbie thread brother…not much help…the only people who chat on here seem to be veterans with advanced computer and crypto skills who dont wanna be bothered…

Would be helpful to include a budget, as well as your power capabilities.

BTC, LTC/DOGE are all basically ASICs.

ETH can be done with ASICs or GPUs.

Personally, I had 9 S9’s running out of my apartment, ran from both Dryer and Stove 220V. Not recommended!
This is just my personal view of running miners out of a Home, apartment, garage, or business. I would recommend doing your own research and seek professional help regarding the power supply.
First you really need to pick what algorithm you want to mine with a ASIC.
If you go small miners you could purchase a PDU (Power Distribution Unit) the linked is just for example. You might be able to run something safely!
If you go one or two big ones, you will need to find a way to run them safety on 220V!. Most of the larger miners will ONLY run on 220V.
If you can run off 220V not 120V, you can reduce the Amp and Watt usage (which also reduces the load on the cheap wiring inside some of these walls these days).
To run any kind of ASIC miner, you will need to think about how you are going to get that heat out of the room/garage you are using the miner in.
Personally I designed and printed 3D Printed ducting that attaches to the miner fans and enables you to connect a 5/6/7/8" ducting to the miner, Then you have a vent in your window. This way the heat is blown out the window away from your miner. The cooler you can keep the room the Safer it is, but it’s also beneficial to the equipment as well.
Now if you attach the Flexible ducting you can find at Home Depot or Lowes. The kind that has the insulation around it. you use this to connect to the miner and the window. The higher the R rating on the ducting the higher reduction you will also see in sound proofing. Ive seen miners <80 decibel.
You would be wise to keep the miner on something that’s static resistant. Not Carpet!
This is just my opinion, if possible, try to run everything networked by wire, there is always a small lag when it comes to Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi networks came be affected by so many things these days, The fans on the miners can interfere with the signals.
As for what miner. That is something that you must research! different miners can mine different algorithm - coins.

I post a lot of different things but this is just my own experience and advise.
yes im also promoting my business, which has been to design and print shrouds for ASIC miners since Jan 2018.
I believe the above post covers a lot of information for people who are new to this, and has helped others guide them in the right direction.

Hey man this is going to be a stupid question but need to ask anyway. To figure out my power capabilities is the only way to do this by getting an electrician over to my house or are their different ways? I’ve got 4 different fuse boxes in my house.

What is your budget?
What is your electric rate?
Do you plan to run them at home or do you need to host them?

ASIC miners draw a lot of electric. for your safety I would recommend having someone check things out. Especially if you want to run on 220V. You can run more miners on 220V than ya can 120V, they are more efficient as well.
There are so many variables when it comes to wiring. It would give you peace of mind too.
But each miner runs at a different AMP, so it would be wise knowing what you want to do before you consult someone, that way you can tell them you want to do, how many you plan on running and their AMP usage. that way they can verify if the wiring will handle it. or if you need to upgrade or run a separate line just for the miners.
but this is just my opinion.

My mistake! Very green here. My bill shows .04 cent per kWh. My budget is 15k. I’d like to run at home if it makes sense. I know I’ll need to get an electrician out to get some things setup for the area I plan on devoting to mining. Hopefully that’s the right amount of info! I appreciate the response.

And home electric configuration is basically only limited to your creativity. Upgrading a home breaker box capacity isn’t all that hard for an electrician.
One of your four is the main, and the others are sub boxes- so just getting main boxes capacity up, and then wiring a proper path for miners, shouldn’t be that bad. If you have electrician friends it can get really cheap :slight_smile:

Not trying to promote anything Asking for people’s advice and opinions because im new to this doesn’t mean I’m trying to promote anything just means I’m trying to learn as much as I can by asking and watching videos so I can get myself started as well smh

I think he was refering to a commenter in the thread anyhow there are some details that would help make reccomendations.

Where do you plan to have these setup? Home? Dedicated mining facility? Remote hosting?

If it isn’t hosted do you know what type of power setup(s) you have for the ASICs? Most ASIC devices need 240v outlets as they draw 1k-4k watts per devices.

I would also add a note to be cautious about mining ETH there are 2 major factors to be concerned with #1 the difficulty bomb and #2 the switch to proof of stake. We have more knowledge and certainty on the timing of #1 which will greatly impact profitability and #2 when it happens mining will be effectively dead for ETH. Potentially you could switch to mining things like ETC but currently the profitability on that coin will be much lower.
