Hey Team,
I got around 12 Antminer S9 on ebay which looked really good and most of them are working fine.
One device shuts off after 2-20 minutes while the power supply fans keep running. Question: might there be a broken “solder joint”?
Issue with two other miners: only two hashboards running. I am thinking about either buying a chip repair kit or another miner to fix the hashboards entirely. Opinions here?

Try resetting the miner that shuts off after 2-20 mins could have overheated previously and just needs a reset.
If that does not work why not use it for parts and switch the haahboards out for the ones that don’t work on the other two.

Have you tried reflashing the firmware.
return it. seller can say all he/she wants but if you miner isn’t as described, you can return it. ebay doesn’t care about sellers at all. seller will have no choice but to refund you the money. if seller resists, ebay will forcefully reverse the transaction. seller will have to pay shipping fees for a return. Unless you bought these at a steep discount, i wouldn’t want to go through hassles of trying to deal with machines that are defective and trying to fix them, especially USED ones. at least new machines have warranties, but not used ones. Learn my my mistake from both buying and selling on ebay.
