Shopping List for Industrial Immersion Mining Installs for Liquid-Cooling Bitcoin Miners

We recently completed installing the 6 cell and 2-3 miner cell immersion systems by bixbit, it was a very challenging installation, and one of those reasons was due to all of the miscellaneous parts and tools we needed, so I wanted to compile everything of note we needed and used in a list here.

Nitrile hazmat gloves for working inside mining immersion fluid, this is critical, protect your health

A critical piece of equipment that you will not find at home depot or Walmart, is a professional hydraulic bar hand pump, luckily we had one on hand from a previous DCX immersion system install, but you are unlikely to have this… you can get one here

Another absolutely critical tool, a flexible hose pipe cutter, this is similar to the orange one you see in the video, the 2" husky one performed worse (sloppy blade on it)

Loctite 55 – this wasn’t suggested in the beginning, and saved the installation by the end, required IMO

Ryobi power tool set – cheapest power tool set that’s name brand and good, if you have no tools like this, these will help you get the job done

Pipe wrenches, this is the exact set we used, not clearly stated, but you WILL NEED these

This is an electrical crimping tool, this will improve your quality of life 100x on their panel installation

Ethernet switch and or ethernet cables

Electrical energy watt amp drok meter we used for real-time power data on the side of the panel

Shop towels – trust me, you’ll want some

$7 mini dewalt organizers, I am a Milwaukee guys but these are nice for the price and stack

cable ties zip ties are useful for mining rig wire management

Nitrile gloves are a must with all of chemicals you’ll work with on this install, these are my favorite

Electrical tape if you don’t already have some, this is good and cheap

1 3/4" hole saw – we used Milwaukee, I am team red, this is a cheaper option for a one-off install

We had mixed success with jb water weld, but the marine weld seems to be a much better product for work like this, and we are still evaluating but it may have fixed the dry cooler leaks!

This screwdriver by klein is really nice and helpful with delicate electrical work

Husky 4 piece plier set came in handy

Husky wall brackets really helped mount the pipes properly onto the wall, some sort of solution by the installer is required, they’re too heavy to leave unsupported

Coolant antifreeze concentrate, cheapest at Walmart, about $10 a gallon

Don’t forget some distilled water to dilute it with, we diluted to roughly 40% coolant and 60% water

The bolts bixbit sent us did not work with the big dry cooler installation, we needed these
M12 Hex Bolt M12-1.75 x 80mm UNC Hex Head Screw Bolts 304 Stainless Steel Fully Threaded Hex Tap Bolts

Also needed due to changing bolt design - U-Shape Strut Saddle Washer, Square Plate Washer Fit 1/2” Bolt for 1-5/8” Strut Channel, Carbon Steel Flat Square Washer, Thickness 4.4mm

Bandsaw for zipping off bolts and excess super strut, we used a dewalt band saw, they’re expensive, this WEN could be a cheaper corded alternative powertool

Drywall screws or similar type I used to mount things into the 2x4 shed studs

Milwaukee safety glasses

We are looking to do a 2MW Immersion setup. So far we’ve contacted Rosseau, DCX, Engineered Fluids, Fog hashing, and GRC to get quotes and details for their setups. We had to sign an NDA with Rosseau, so I’ll report what I can from each of these companies.

Have you talked w/ BMA? they operate a 1 mw immersion mining farm in Virginia, might be worth a quick outreach

Would love to hear your thoughts when you can share more, I know Fog Hashing will give you discount if you mention you saw them on our channel.

I will definitely mention you, and I’ll check out BMA as well. Thanks
