Hi all. I am thinking of buying an L7 9050 as a first miner. Is it a good purchase or I should wait?
What is my plan - I want to get the L7 and start with it. If everything is good I want to get an S19 XP which will be powered by a solar panel for free electricity. Currently my electricity cost is 0.13 kW/h USD.
And later expand the solar panel for the L7 as well.
What do you think guys? Should I invest in these machines?
$0.13/kWh is tough. If the market goes nuts your golden, but anything else and it’ll take a while to ROI.
You’d also need quite a few solar panels to run a single miner. Maybe explore hosting options?
Would love to know how much solar you have, do you have solar feed in tariffs? If so, would you have enough credit to run the L7 24/7? Or enough to bring your bill down to equivalent of 5c/kw for example? If so then you’re in a good position to get a L7
For example my house has 8kw of solar and produces 12MW of power per year. I have shit solar feed in tariffs but I had 13c feed in/buy price (assuming that’s what you have) a 9050mh model uses 28.5MW per year, I would still need to buy 16.5MW of power, and as you said it’s $130/MW so you’d have a bill of $2,145. Assuming this is at your house you should also consider your home electric needs, if you use 5MW a year for general power (as an example) consider that as well, you’d have a bill of $2800 combined. Perhaps you have a ton of solar credits banked up ready to use and it wont matter, but if you provide more context it could help us brainstorm and give better ideas
Honestly, Mesa, I would start smaller. Something like a box miner or something simple, before you go in on the big boys.
Regarding the power from the solars. I got 5000W guaranteed everyday and they are only for the machines. That’s why I plan an L7 and S19 XP. If the sun can’t generate full power then I use the normal electricity at 0.13 kwH.
About other machines I ordered Jasminer J4-Q-Z and it’s arriving this friday. I bought it just to see if it works and I’ll use it at home bevause it’s not so loud.
