Can this be used to run the hydro miners?
Just looked through their manual and it says for 3 phase motor only. From what I read, it’s limited to 15 amps. Do you know what the amperage of the hydro miner your interested in is? The S21 xp hydra for instance uses 5676 Watts which pull around 23.52 amps which is a heck of a lot of current. So I guess even if this unit was for general use (not for motors only) you would way exceed the safe current rating.
I would not recommend using a phase converter for several reasons.
-
Most phase converters cause excessive heat in solid state loads due to high harmonics on the output.
-
Most are designed for an inductive load and not a load that operates near a unity power factor. This can cause voltage spikes that damage power supplies long term.
-
Phase converter losses can be quite high and need to be added to the losses of the miner. There is a lot of heat generated in the conversion.
I think you would be better off running multiple single phase miners rather than doing a conversion. Phase converters have a typical 5-7 year life span as well when ran near peak power, so factor that in as well.
