SO . . . FINALLY AN UPDATE. I received my L7 9050mh/s today via DHL after nearly two months of back and forth with Bitmain. The miner was stuck with UPS (original shipper) for one month in Shenzhen bc Bitmain didn’t provide the correct export paperwork. Also, they failed to respond to literally every e-mail I sent them about the request for correct export paperwork.
Long story short, the miner was returned to Bimain and they repackaged it and sent it DHL. It left China on Monday (March 21st) and was delivered today (March 25th) via DHL Express. No customs hick-ups or any delays. I will say, the customs are CRAZY expensive if you get hit with a commercial invoice. I paid just over $3,150 in import duties to US Customs to get my miner. Granted, I bought it as a future order in July 2021 and just took delivery now in March 2022. I paid significantly less than through a 3rd party reseller, but it was hell getting it landed and finally through customs.
My advice in the future . . . buy from Compass Mining. They have a good selection of miners and offer great hosting options too. I am at full capacity now with over 20 miners running off 220/240v in my house. Much cheaper electricity rates and their miners include import duties too lol.
I have learned this the hard way and will continue to MFH (mine from home), but perhaps only for the next few years. It’s much more profitable to go industrial scale - higher hash rates, cheaper kW prices, and better ROIs. Just my opinion on MFH and my first experience importing a miner myself. Happy hashing!!
