USA tariffs trying to avoid them

I haven’t bought an ASIC miner in years and the tariffs are new to me. I have friends in the UK, could I ship to them and then have them ship to me to avoid the tariffs?

I am not an expert here but I think you would still have to pay the tariffs, as I think it is based on where the item was manufactured. This is why MicroBT is manufacturing in a country exempt from tariffs.

Side note - I think if the declared value is less than the de minimus value ($800) you don’t have to pay a tariff. At least it used to be that way. Check the CBP.gov site for the latest information.

I suspect what many suppliers in China are doing is declaring the value lower than the de minimus value. A while back I got some quotes for DDP shipping that was too good to be true. I didn’t want to run the risk of running a foul with the USA government, so I decided to go a different route.
