Bought Goldshell KD-5 from BT-Miners

@Thorn or anyone else that bought from BT Miners,

Did you have to pay any extra fees from what BT Miners says online - customs etc?
I’m looking on there for an L7 or S19 and am trying to get a realistic idea of the already crazy prices.

Thanks

i paid nothing ( except a 20$ tip to the gentleman that drove 2.5 hours from the airport to deliver my box the day it was released for delivery) :wink:

Well, I have it sitting on a wire rack shelf and vent the heat out a window. I have a mobile air conditioner nearby and a dehumidifier on the other side of the basement.
I guess I could take a photo?

@James_Elray I bought the KD5 when it was listed at $13,500 and paid $40 more dollars for delivery.

@Zilina my profit kept slipping on dxpool, hash rate stayed near spec.
tonight I’m switching to
stratum+tcp://kda-us.ss.poolflare.com:443

wallet+pplns.minername

Thanks @Thorn. I have 2 KD5’s hashing away. Table shows ever declining Poolflare payouts over the past 7 days due to difficulty increase.

More concerning is that I should be getting closer to 36Ths while I typically average somewhere in the mid to high-34Ths

I think part of the reason that my KD5’s often have high rejection rates (one is showing 3.59% as a type this, though the other is 0.94%) is due to my internet connection. I connect via wifi adapter in my garage, which is the other side of the house and a different floor than the internet router location. From the adapter, I run a Cat6 cable to a switch, then individual Cat6 cables from the switch to each ASIC. I’m in FL so I’ve been waiting for cooler weather so that I can run Cat6 cable through the attic and get rid of my wifi adapter setup. I think this might solve some dropped signal and latency issues that likely
are contributing to high rejection rates and lower than desired hash rates.

Since 8am this morning, running +PPLNS mode

after my first 12 hours, still had about 0.685 coins waiting when I started

it would be great if you could take a photo for reference. I’m thinking about adding an air conditioner too during hot summer here in las vegas

@cryptominernv
two plugs 240V L630P (because I have two more asic miners on order)

two PDU strips

Miner and strips strapped with a lot of zip ties on this metal wheeled shelf unit.

Hello KD5, snuggled underneath and on three sides by sound dampening foam, and using whatever cardboard I had available. This is the link to the plug that works for the Goldshell-KD5.

Here is a mobile AC elevated on a 5-gallon bucket to prime the gravity condensate drain.

I’m familiar with the expandable hose that comes with these units and have ducted four of them in different applications, including a server room

stacked some spare wood for the drainage hose, the ‘ugly’ black tube is foam insulated to the outside and drains water outside, like a little downspout.

Here you see the two ducts taped into an open window, the screen is pulled down on the outside. All seams are taped shut, using aluminum metal duct tape.

After reading some learning articles on Compass I bought an extra mobile ac window unit kit
and a square end for the other side and fabricated a duct that fits snuggly around the exhaust fans and the square hose connector duct and taped it all shut with the aluminum foil duct tape, then hung it ‘just so’ and nudged the miner exhaust fans into the duct.

Man! looking at these pics makes me want to clean up…I’m always so utilitarian I never really notice how messy things look, but even though it ain’t pretty, she gets the job done.
Oh well, hopefully, this is helpful for seeing and believing.

wow! awesome work! Is the mobile AC much more efficient than the ones attached to the wall? How much do you use?

thanks @cryptominernv
I use the mobile ones because they also dehumidify and basically pump heat out of the space.
I haven’t needed it much so far this fall.

on the last 24 hours i made 16.56 KDA… kda went waaayyy up but how much are you guys gettimg so far on 24hrs?

i’m on f2pool , cmpool just said they were back online but i’m afraid to go back and make even less…

i’m still very happy with my purchase… obviously got very lucky with price ATH to 10 today… if it can keep an toher month i’d be paid back on investment :wink:

Average of 20.43 KDA/day/KD5 (I have 2). I’ll be lucky to scrape 20 today. Daily # of KDA declining as difficulty increases. Using Poolflare.

so poolflare gives you 20% more than what i get … that is a lot !!! i will try poolflare starting today!! thanks

@jaycee_USA Well, ymmv. Just saying what I’m getting. I also just checked hardware error and rejection rates, which should allow you to level set. I’m getting ~0.7% and 1.3%, respectively, per the Goldshell management software.

Fwiw, Poolflare pays out every 12 hours. So the first half of Nov 5th just closed out (08:00 EST) and my two KD5’s pulled in 20.102 KDA.

As far as rejection rate is concerned, I’m running wireless from one end of my house to the garage, then ethernet from the wireless adapter to a switch and then to the ASICs. My Saturday plan is to run some Cat6 cable through my attic into the garage and eliminating the wireless adapter. Hopefully this’ll reduce some latency and bring the rejection rates down. E.g., I do have one ASIC directly connected to my router and its rejection rate is only 0.1% (consistently).

@jaycee_USA
I’ve got one KD5 on poolflare, I tried f2pool, then dxpool and now pplns on poolflare

which one do you think is better?

Also, are you using any surge protectors?

@Eddiford
I’ve settled on poolflare because my ping is lowest to them and the payout is reasonable.
My whole house has a surge protector. I installed solar panels and now I’m thinking of doubling the size of the system. Miners eat electricity.

O wow. What size is your solar panel system??
